Aims of the PE department

Holy Cross College aims to provide each pupil with an enjoyable and stimulating experience in PE whereby they attain the necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes which will assist them to become involved in lifelong physical activity.  


Holy Cross College is extremely proud of its sporting facilities which include:

A large Sports Hall, 2 Fully equipped gymnasia, A fully equipped fitness suite, 1 full size Gaelic Pitch, 1 mini Gaelic pitch, 1 full size grass Soccer pitch, 1 3G Astroturf pitch, 5 Tennis courts.

P.E Provision.

PE is a compulsory subject within the Northern Ireland curriculum and all pupils are expected to participate fully in all activities as laid out in the PE Participation Policy.

All Classes in year 8 to 12 are timetabled for a minimum of 1 hour of PE per week where they will participate in a varied programme of activities including  various games, athletics, gymnastics, health related fitness and swimming.

At year 11 pupils can opt to study PE at GCSE level.

At Post 16 level students can opt to study PE at A Level standard.
